KLOESEL Engineering, P.A. was formed by Woody Kloesel, P.E., in 1995 to provide quality structural engineering consultant services to architects, municipalities, institutions, and other clients. Prior to establishing his own practice, Woody Kloesel had six years of consulting experience with Haynes-Whaley Associates in Houston, Texas, and eight years with Sutton-Kennerly & Associates in Asheville, North Carolina. The firm is committed to the highest quality design and service standards. For the past ten years, over 90% of the fees generated were from repeat clients, many of whom have had a working relationship with Woody Kloesel for over fifteen years.

The majority of the work of the firm involves providing structural consulting services for architectural clients. Staff members have designed numerous condominiums, educational facilities, residence halls, churches, museums, community centers, swimming pool facilities, theaters, commercial office buildings, warehouses, hospitals, and shopping centers. The firm has developed a solid reputation for creating designs that fulfill the architectural requirements in a cost efficient manner. The ability to work with the architect to develop creative solutions for difficult design conditions has resulted in a loyal group of repeat clients.

The renaissance of the Asheville downtown area in the past ten years has created a strong market for the existing buildings in the center of the city. The majority of these buildings are 65 to 80 years old, with structural systems utilizing concrete, steel, masonry and timber. Working with our architectural clients and the building contractors, we have derived a great satisfaction in participating in the renewal of these fine old buildings for another life cycle. Renovation work requires a high degree of creativity due to the numerous unknowns that are always encountered. Our understanding of the original design process allows us to anticipate how to most effectively design the renovation procedures.

Although the primary type of project in which the firm is involved is building construction with an architectural emphasis, there is expertise in other key areas as well. Members of the staff have designed the structural components of various sanitary engineering facilities for over fifteen municipalities, in addition to dozens of private clients. The firm has developed a reputation for designing durable, long-lasting structures while maintaining a competitive cost for initial construction.
